Introduction
I am a Collie cross. I was sadly put to sleep on 30th November 2001, I was 14½ years old.
My owners got me when I was an 8 week old puppy from an local animal sanctuary. I had loads of toys and a warm comfy bed. I was really happy to be here with my family
Congratulations Michelle for being Dog Of The Week, I´m sure you are celebrating over at Rainbow Bridge with Doug and his dogs and a few other pals, but if you were back here for the week how do you think you would be celebrating?
I think I would celebrate by having extra treats and loads of extra cuddles.
Doug (dougsdogs) is now at Rainbow Bridge, he will be really happy and pleased to see me nominated for Dog of the Week. I would like to dedicate my reign has Dog of the Week to Doug, the best friend and UDC moderator anyone could have met. So in memory of Doug, this one is for you mate.
Thank you to those who have nominated me for this special honour of being a Rainbow Bridge Dog of the Week.
When you went for walks, where was your favourite place to go and why?
There was loads of favourite places. I liked the village green and also the playing field (this is a place where they play football and rugby). I used to meet my doggie friends on the village green and the playing field. I also liked going to the local Linear Park, that is a beautiful peaceful place, it used to be a railway line many years ago until Doctor Beeching had his own way and closed some railway lines. I also liked going to Crow Wood, this is a wooded area and its really called Hitchfield Wood, so where the name Crow Wood came from is a bit of a mystery. I also liked going to Liverpool and taking a cruise on the Mersey Ferry and walking round Albert Dock, I once saw Fred Talbot the weather man on his famous weather map and he even said hello to me.
Where was your favourite place to rest or sleep?
I had loads of favourite places to rest or sleep - my basket, on the sofa or a chair, on the bed or in the garden. The best thing was going to sleep on my back or sleeping with my head on my teddy bear or Rufus the rabbit or even against Sharon in bed. When it was really cold at night I used to get under the duvet with Sharon to keep warm.
What is the bravest thing you ever did?
The bravest thing I ever did? I think my family would say that I was brave to cope with my health problems just before I made my final journey to Rainbow Bridge.
Did you do any tricks that you and Sharon were proud of?
I loved doing obedience and going to dog training club with Sharon and won loads of certificates and rosettes. I really didin´t do any special tricks unless you call opening the living room or the bedroom door door a trick?
All dogs do something amusing sometime in their lives, what is the most memorable amusing things you ever did?
I had a toy rabbit called Rufus and Sharon´s mum used to take me shopping and I sometimes took Rufus. Sharon´s mum then had to put Rufus in her shopping bag and carry him round the shop. Bit embarassing for Sharon´s mum, but I can tell you they certainly laugh about it now.
How would you best describe your owner Sharon and how would she best decribe you?
How would I describe Sharon? She has loads of qualities about her. Sharon is a wonderful person, kind, modest, considerate, understanding, pleasant, friendly, great personality, good sense of humour, helpful, loyal, respectful and personable. I know she sometimes does not belive in herself or doesn´t think highly of herself and will often put herself down, but she is one of the best people around. Sharon is one true mate to have in life.
How would Sharon describe me? I think she would say I am a brilliant dog, clever, friendly, loyal, loving, happy and a true best friend.
