I am no longer a biik (piglet), ´cause now, it´s the other way around. It´s finally me who gets to have biiks (piglets)

So last night, Nanay Nita or my mom´s mom (err), gave me a bath and some haircut that Lei (mom) was slightly surprised and all she could comment was, "You sure look like a piglet, Laula. Could you say Oink oink for me?" Well, I sure was really big and my tummy too!

Okay so I´ll be writing for Laula.. It was 6 am and the usual calm, chilly morning was suddenly full of excitement and some adrenaline ´cause Laula unexpectedly started giving birth! Our maid, Ate Roch woke me up telling me that I should do something since I´m the one who´s taking up Nursing and that I am responsible for Laula blah blah she was basically in panic. Okay so I was like, "Omg this is so unexpected because she´s 5 days early. I knew I counted the 63rd day right. It´s either July 31 or August 2, but today she finally gave birth to 3 puppies and the date is: July 26, 2008.

At first, I didn´t know what I should exactly do, so I just observed them. At that time, there was only 1 pup which is heavily dark brown. I was already so proud of my baby because she managed it by herself. I remembered what the vet said that Laula sure has a large tummy so definitely, it wasn´t just one pup.. So I got clean disposable gloves.. and still wasn´t sure if I should get cord clamps (the one you use for neonates) then when I got back, I was shocked because Laula started eating the placenta and the cord leaving just an inch. So, I initially thought, "Ah. So this is animal instinct." It´s the first time I´ve witnessed such thing for real. All our dogs give birth at night time so we only get to see them already sucking milk in the morning, all clean and nicely arranged.

Then I called my mom and she suggested that I should palpate her tummy and I was like, "I wouldn´t do that. She might bite me like all our other dogs who have hormonal imbalances when giving birth." Hahaha. So I just waited and observed for bleeding through peeking only. Because I´d like her to give birth in a calm, quiet, and private environment but I occasionally visit her just in case another pup is delivered.

So there came the second, which I had to help in opening the bag of water..

Then the third one came out of nowhere (lol), and the maid was the one who opened it.. Since Laula is so preoccupied with her first born, she wasn´t able to attend to the next pups..

My brother called over the voice chat and even told me to suction the pups, and I just told him, "I didn´t realize that. They seem to be breathing already. I immediately rubbed them and they began crying so I thought they were already okay."

My brother sighed and said, "You could have suctioned them so they can breathe easier."

Come on. Everyone becomes a vet all of a sudden. XD

My mom too, actually, called around 10 times, telling me to contact the vet, inspect for bleeding, palpate the abdomen, massage the breasts, and even told me to comfort Laula to relieve the pain. Woah. Well, we all know how much effort she´s given in taking care of Laula..

I´ll be posting pictures soon!!!
