Thank you all for joining, hope we can all enjoy chatting about what makes mutts so special (nothing negative about purebreeds, but they already get lots of attention). What makes your mutt special? Mine are all such characters, they each have their own, very individual personality, and are very unique. What quirks do you love about your mutt´s?

I have always had mixed breed dogs, nothing wrong with pedigrees / pure breeds, but mixed breeds do have their own unique characters, are often more robust than a pedigree / pure breed and you get the best of both worlds by having more than one breed in one dog.

My Meg is a Saluki cross Collie and I call her the BOGOF dog. For those who do not know what BOGOF means, it is Buy One Get One Free. We bought one dog and got another free. Meg as the qualities and personality of two different dogs, and that makes her more special, so what more can I ask for?

Our dogs are unique, one off dogs, never to be replaced

We´ve got Satan from the dog shelter this year and I gotta say he is more clever than the other pure breed dogs
I think that when you mix various dogs something more special will be created- these dogs have qualities after all their parents, so it makes them perfect

roxie is what i call a ranch dog. she´s a herding dog mix. we think blue heeler and some sheltie and who knows what else. i´ve never seen another dog like her so it´s hard to tell. i love her so much because she´s really friendly and relaxed.

mutts are great because you get good qualities from multiple breeds. they´re like the best of the best!

My oldest one Muppy is a Shih Tzu/Papillon mix and surely that´s in her character too LOL! She can be very on distance like Shih Tzus are, and it takes a lil´ time before she likes you, but at the other hand she also can be very warm, nice and social, especially to other pets, but IF she´s getting mad, you´ll surely see her Papillon side, teeheeh! She´s not a barker.

My Jack was sold as a Shih Tzu to his former owners, but clearly is that he´s a Shih Tzu/Maltese mix! Jack has the warm character of a Shih Tzu, and also he has the social character, but at the other hand he can be very barkative sometimes, as he doesn´t likes some men, but he´s very social to kids and he loves kids actually! Another thing he has from a Maltese is the fact he can be really ADHD like, working on your nerves and he can be as stubborn as a Shih Tzu, sometimes completely not listening at all and only putting down his own willing.

And Jimmy? Well ... He´s Jack & Jessy´s son and allthough he´s for 80 per cent a Shih Tzu, his character sometimes is also quite Jack-like LOL!

I think it´s okay there are pure breeds with pedigree, but in my opinion it doesn´t guarantee you a healthy and in character a nice doggy and surely my opinion is that it sometimes is maybe even better to bring a simular kinda breed into the line to forecome diseases and agressive/dominant lines

i found most mixed breeds seem to have a very good disposition. silver is 100% suck. very loving and tolerant considering all the little kids she´s around, hugs tail pulling etc she takes it all in stride.

maxi is a shih tzu / yorkshire mix. Many people are confused to her looks so they always ask me what kind of breed she is. Even though she is a mixed breed of shih tzu, she´s always a head turner!

MY NIGHT CAME TO ME FROM THE NEIGHBORS HOUSE, THEY TOOK OFF FOR THREE DAYS AND LEFT HER OUT IN THE YARD WITH NO FOOD, WATER, OR SHELTER. I TOOK HER, LEFT A NOTE AND THEY NEVER CAME AND GOT HER, I FINALLY WENT OVER TO TELL THEM I HAD HER, AND THEY SAID JUST KEEP HER. SO BY GOLLY I DID. SHE IS THE SWEETEST BABY GIRL IVE EVER SEEN. SHE IS A CHOW/CATTLE DOG MIX. I CALL HER MY LITTLE WATCH DOG. SHE HAS A VERY UNIQUE PERSONALITY AND IS A GOOD COMPANION FOR MY PUREBRED DOG. I HAD ANOTHER MIX, HIS NAME WAS MAX, HE WAS SPRINGER/BORDER COLLIE, AT 17 HE FINALLY WENT HOME OVER THE BRIDGE AND TO ME A MIX BREED IS THE BEST.

I have no idea what breed Henry is but he is just adorable. The rescue centre said he was a X-Bassett but on the biscuit tin I had, the dog depicted on it in profile (a beagle) could have been Henry, so we say he is a cross bassett/beagle. He narks like a bassett and has the broad chest and stumpy front legs and very long bofy and doleful eyes - bit his ears and muzzle are beagle. He loves to carry things and will sit in repose for hours with a toy duck or teddy in his mouth - like a gun dog he has very short front teeth and lovely soft jowels and he is SO gentle. When I adopted him - I just wanted a dog, any dog, to keep Rosie company after we lost Shaddow tragically - and Henry came into our lives like a little miracle. Bless him

Our Mishka was found at the metrostation in St.Peterburg Russia, he was only about 6 weeks old. He came into my life on the day my grandmother was burried. The man who found Mishka, a dutch truck driver, wanted to give Mishka away to someone or he would take the dog to a shelter. So my heart melted and I took him, so that I would find him another home, but... years went by and here he still is.

I bought Zera, when I saw an add on a paper that German shepherd/Rottweiler/Labrador-mix puppies are sold for 50€. So I called and reserved a bitch, which I went to get as 5½ weeks old.

You know I am wondering why there´s nothing on uniteddogs.com for cross breeds. My puppy is a dachshund chihuahua cross breed. Not really a mix.... We know what he is.
